I also tried letter of the week and gave up. I start so gung-ho...and eventually just discovered it was TOO much work. Then I tried "itty bitty book worm" and it was the same way. (Even though it is a full curriculum you still have to spend all of the time finding supplies, printing, lamenting, etc.) I ordered the sonlight catalog and REALLY liked what I saw. I like that for their younger grades it is just a checklist instead of some scripted lesson plan. I think that that might provide more room for making it your own. Anyways, thanks for posting.
